The Peter F. Dalton '65 Memorial Scholarship at Norwich University Established
July 1st, 2011
CHESHIRE, CT, July 1, 2011 -- Dalton Enterprises, Inc. in conjunction with The Peter F. Dalton Foundation (www.pfdfoundation.org) is proud to announce the establishment of the Peter F. Dalton ‘65 Memorial Scholarship at Norwich University. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a financially challenged student who is a member of the Corps of Cadets and majoring in Business. Peter loved his family, his country, business and mentoring others. “Dad loved Norwich and saw a lot of himself in the students there,” said John Dalton. “Supporting dedicated young men and women that will eventually protect our country and someday perhaps enter the business world is exactly what he would have wanted.”
“Peter was a remarkable man. A class of ’65 alumnus, Peter’s legacy is one of passion for life, of extraordinary drive, and of selfless service to our nation and others. The indelible mark he left on all who knew and loved him is also made permanent on the young men and women of the Norwich University Corps of Cadets enrolled in the School of Business & Management who are selected as recipients of the scholarship awarded annually in his name. This scholarship will inspire our cadets to dream more, learn more, and become the next generation of leaders who will transform the world,” said Dr. Richard W. Schneider, rear admiral USCGR (Ret.), President Norwich University.
About Norwich University and the Corps of Cadets
Founded in 1819, Norwich University is located in Northfield, VT and is America’s oldest private military college. The university has approximately a total of 3,400 students, 2,100 undergraduate students and 1300 graduate students. Norwich’s objective is to encourage students to become stronger and more determined leaders. They learn to take responsibility for their actions, and support their comrades in pursuit of a common goal. Those who rise to the mental and physical challenge of life as a cadet are rewarded with useful life skills, self-confidence and self-discipline. Graduates of Norwich make a difference in the world as leaders of business, government and the military. In the Corps of Cadets, students gain the practical experience, knowledge and strength of character to try, no matter what obstacles they face. For more information please visit www.norwich.edu
